5. Hendo, the Hoverboard That Actually Hovers

Hoverboards have gained traction recently, though the majority of market offerings aren’t exactly worthy of Back to the Future’s lofty portrayal.  Luckily, alternatives do exist; the Hendo Hover not only lets its rider float off the ground, but has already seen distribution via Kickstarter.

As a product of Arx Pax, the Hendo floats via magnetic fields that create currents atop surfaces.  The interaction of the fields and currents generates a pushing effect, which in turn lifts the rider off the ground.  It’s a step forward for the technology, but Arx Pax wants to take it a step further by implementing hover technology to replace wheels and rails entirely.  If they succeed, we’ll really see science fiction come to life.
