A cocktail that stops Alzheimer’s disease in its tracks.

Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases are some of the leading causes of sickness and death. We all know that taking care of the mind is crucial to longevity and there are many different disciplines working directly to cure Alzheimer’s including biochemistry, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence.

Researchers have identified a drinkable cocktail of designer molecules that interferes with a crucial first step of Alzheimer’s disease and even restores memories in mice.[…]

Biochemists at Yale University are on their way to combat the onslaught of Alzheimer’s. They created a mixture of small polymer molecules that can stop the preliminary cause of the disease by stopping the amyloid-beta peptides from binding to prion proteins in the brain’s neurons. The mixture was also able to repair memory in mice that display Alzheimer’s. Making sure the “cocktail” is safe for humans is the next step before your friendly neighborhood bartender (doctor) serves it up. Stay tuned for updates.
